In January of 2009, two days after retiring from my job of 37 years, I took a road trip around my home state of Florida
(mostly the West/Gulf Coast). I learned so much about Florida's history and all the interesting things Florida
has to offer. It's not all Disney World and the Space Shuttle - although, the Space Shuttle IS pretty spectacular!!

SANFORD, FLORIDA (08/28/2010)

Sanford is one of Central Florida’s oldest incorporated cities; it has bricklined streets, huge oak trees, elegant store-fronts and large, 19th century Victorian homes. The Historic Downtown is filled with antique shops, restaurants and art galleries. Sanford sits on the south shore of Lake Monroe, providing a waterfront backdrop for walking, jogging or just enjoying the natural beauty.

Lots of outdoor-dining restaurants.

And antique stores.

This was a cool Folk Art store. The wall on the
outside had a bunch of different trinkets embedded in the cement.

This is the RiverWalk area. There's a 2-mile walkway all
along the water. There are lots of gazebos and picnic areas.

A beautiful park honoring Veterans.

Marina - Port of Sanford.

A couple of pretty houses in the area.

CASSADAGA, FLORIDA (08/27/2010)

As I continued my journey through Florida, I came upon a very small town called Cassadaga. It is known as “The Psychic Center of the World”. The word Cassadaga is a term used by the Seneca Indians meaning, “Rocks beneath the water.” Because of its unique energy level, it is the premiere psychic community and is home to some of America’s finest psychics. Many psychics enjoy reading in Cassadaga due to the ethereal vibrations with spirits and clients with utmost clarity. These special etheric vibrations emanate from the Earth itself, sometimes called Ley Lines or energy Hot Spots. Cassadaga is a place that’s out of the main stream, a place to relax and get back in touch with yourself.

The town is comprised mostly of mediums and psychics.
