In January of 2009, two days after retiring from my job of 37 years, I took a road trip around my home state of Florida
(mostly the West/Gulf Coast). I learned so much about Florida's history and all the interesting things Florida
has to offer. It's not all Disney World and the Space Shuttle - although, the Space Shuttle IS pretty spectacular!!

SANFORD, FLORIDA (08/28/2010)

Sanford is one of Central Florida’s oldest incorporated cities; it has bricklined streets, huge oak trees, elegant store-fronts and large, 19th century Victorian homes. The Historic Downtown is filled with antique shops, restaurants and art galleries. Sanford sits on the south shore of Lake Monroe, providing a waterfront backdrop for walking, jogging or just enjoying the natural beauty.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN SANFORD

Lots of outdoor-dining restaurants.

And antique stores.

This was a cool Folk Art store. The wall on the
outside had a bunch of different trinkets embedded in the cement.

This is the RiverWalk area. There's a 2-mile walkway all
along the water. There are lots of gazebos and picnic areas.

A beautiful park honoring Veterans.

Marina - Port of Sanford.

A couple of pretty houses in the area.
